Can you help out with evaporator questions. 1. is there a way to pressure test this while still mounted 2. how is the evaporator removed if it is found to leak 3. how much should one pay to have this replaced thanks Mray

Most shops will charge the system and add dye to detect any leakage. If the system is currently charged, they can use a freon "sniffer" to dtect where a leak is coming from. Removing an evaporator is a rather intense job... not best done by an amateur. Most times, a leak in an AC system is going to be in one of the hose / pipe connection points. Although it is certainly possible for evaporators to leak, It is not the most common place for a system to lose a seal.

 

I'd recommend having a shop diagnose it and then post what you find out here.
