well the time has come.. I'm truly thinking about trading in my 04 for an 08, i can get just exactly what i owe for it(per the dealer) so my truck will be a wash.. I'm looking at either a black or dark blue ext cab 5.3 4wd z71... give me some help tho? what kind of deals have you guys walked out of the dealer with and i know right now its employee pricing plus 5000$ cash back.. so your looking out the door for a 30k truck just around 23? sounds good to me.. but give me some advice? and show me some pics of your o8's silverado's or sierras... I'm still undecided on which to go with!! thanks in advance!

Here is my opinion: keep your current truck. Why are you wanting to get rid of it? Is it giving you problems? Is it not trustworthy? When will it be paid off? I bet a lot sooner than that new 2008 will be! I have not had payments for over two years on my truck and a $0 payment is the best one to have. Keep your truck. Get it paid off.

I'm seeing invoice less any rebate deals here. Not hard to get 7 or 8 grand off of a nicely equipped truck. That's pretty hard to pass up on if you are in the market. It's the best I've seen in years.

Good luck!

the trucks in tip top shape... i may even just hand it over with the payments to my dad... but i just cant justify driving a 04 for just a little under the same price per month as i could a new 08 with a 100,000 mile warranty and zero miles on it. I've been thinking about it on and off and with these rebates i don't wanna kick myself when I'm ready to buy next summer and i get the 1000$ cash back incentive, when i could easily pull 7 or 8 g's off a brand new rado.. I'm going to test drive 3 today. i called the dealer up and talked to sales guy we always use (this will be our 5th truck in 1o years) from the same dealer so I'm hoping he can get me even a little more.. I'll let you guys know how things go!

It's all up to you. Me personally, once I decide I want something, I go get it.

Just don't put yourself in a bind financially. Make sure you get what your truck is really worth.

Don't let them convince you to take a hit on it because the 08's are such a good deal.

If you drive an 08, you will most likely buy one. I love my Sierra!

What the heck? I say go for it as long as it isn't a financial burden. You only live once.

I buy one new vehicle almost every year... I like new stuff! WOO HOO~!

EDIT: Make sure we get pics of the new sled.

i am in the same boat considering trading my 06 in on an 08. i have been getting pricing around at a few dealers. they have been coming down about $500 below employee pricing plus the 5k in rebates. YOu can get the employee pricing by doing a locate from the Chevy or GMC website.

Although the payments are going to be the same, the length of making those payments will be very different. I was looking at trading my 06 a while back for a new Silverado and I could have got one just a bit nicer for the same monthly payment but I'd have added three years of payments. If you're financially capable I'd do it. The new ones are real nice. I however am in college and can't justify adding the extra months when my trucks only got 20k on it now.

Well, since you're not in a bind for a new truck, if you can get a really good deal from the dealer, won't be painful financially, and is the truck you want, then go for it. In the end it comes down to what you want as there are lots of pros and cons either way.

yeah i hear what your sayin... i mean i look at it this way... i'm a freak when it comes to what i drive... and i know no matter what i do... whether i buy now... in 3 weeks or in 3 years... i'm always gonna have a payment... until i'm ready to go... right now i work part time as a firefighter and am still in school and i work fulltime at Home Depot... i work about 80 hours a week and i get payed to go to school so i think the extra cash per month is kinda worth it... this way if something goes bad its covered under warranty i'll keep you guys posted...

when i was at the GMC dealer last week i was seeing prices in the mid to low 20's. they Just had them posted in the front windows for the employee pricing. I didnt pay all to much attention because i am not in the market

I got an 08 Sierra for 8 grand less than the sticker price.. You should definitely get a new truck. The sticker was 33,XXX and with the employee discount I got it for 24,900.

This imo, is something you're going to have to, either convince yourself to do it, or, be happy with what you have. Like everybody else has said, if you can afford to do it, go for it. This is just one of those situations where you'll probably wind up kicking yourself in the ass, either way you choose. Good luck with your decision.

lol well im not so sure how to go about dealing with our local dealer... i walked off the lot again a satisfied person until i got one small phone call.. today i went in got an out the door price for a black z71 crew cab silverado price out the door was supposed to be somewhere around the 23 24 range... paper on the truck said 27500 with employee discount... so he factored in the local 5000$ rebate and gave me a quote... well i decided to run up to carmax and have my truck appraised because i was 100% sure i was gonna go buy the truck after i payed mine off or traded it in... so as im pulling into carmax the guy calls me on my phone and tells me that he made a "mistake" and that the price on the paper included the 5000$ discount... so i was now gonna owe somewhere in the 29 to 30 range... at this point im fuming and i called the sales manager and left a message stating that once he gave me one good enough reason why i should come back in and buy a vehicle from his incompetent sales team to give me a call.... so here i am once again after leaving this dealership full of anger and with no new truck... guess its time to start searchin other dealers because these days no matter how much money you've spent at a dealership will earn you any respect... which pisses me off...

Sure is a disappointing turn of events given what you said in post #4. Either you can say we deal given the "window price" or I walk out the door. If they want your business bad enough, they will back down from 30k. Is that an LT or LTZ? I like your color preferences, blue would be my choice!
