Yeah,We've already had quite a few people come in and want to buy one (They thought GM was building them already)

It is a sharp lookin' car,I'd buy one :)

What happened? This doesn't look anything like the concept Volt! This looks more like a Malibu make-over! I'm a bit disappointed...

Well... I'm not a fan of hybrids. Big-ass batteries don't exactly scream 'environmentally-friendly' to me. It does look cool though, and it will certainly help GM, especially their image.

EDIT: Looked at it again, and I take back what I said about it looking cool. The front looks good, but the back looks like a retarded cousin of the Prius.

I think the concept looked really cool but I still like how it turned out. The reason the design was changed so much is simply that the concept had the aerodynamic quality's of a brick. It was apparently horrible in wind-tunnel tests and because aerodynamics play a huge part in the efficiency of the car, GM had to change the design a little bit. I still think overall it looks very nice and I think that it is the right combination of smooth design and style that will attract a lot of people. Also I hope that this car really succeeds because GM has put so much money into the development of it, that if it were to fail, GM would pretty much be screwed.

There are interior pics in the second link.

Interior looks better than the exterior, which seems to be morphing into a Honda Civic. The concept looked a hell of alot better.

I read an article in the paper today about the unveiling and they said the price could be close to $40,000! I don't care if it got 150 mpg, $40K for the offspring of a Malibu and a Civic is just plain wrong! The new Honda Insight Hybrid looks way better, and it's supposed to be priced around $18K and get over 40 mpg! That's a solution I can live with...

You are missing the point. No one buys a hybrid to save on money or even gas. People by hybrids to let everyone else know that they are "saving" the environment.

This car will sell well because it is "green". To be honest they really should have made it ugly as hell. The greenies would eat up a car that is so ugly it sticks out and people see them saving the environment. That is the biggest factor why they prius outsells the civic hybrid. No one wants to go green if they cant let everyone know just how green they are

The insight, the Prius? You don't understand. The Volt is totally different. For one the government just passed a bill in which the volt will get a $5,000 tax break. Also the Volt is not a parallel hybrid like the Insight and Prius, it is a series hybrid. This means the engine only works as a generator, so it is more efficient. Unlike the Insight and Prius in which the engine propels the car directly with the assist of the electric motors. The Volts power train is much more advanced. So even if the Insight gets 40 mpg you are still burning a gallon of gas; in contrast, the Volt can travel up to 40 miles on pure electricity, no gasoline is burned. So lets say that you drive to work which is 10 miles away. Round trip is 20 miles. You would not use any gasoline. Then when you get home you just plug the Volt into the wall and it recharges. Now lets say that you drive home and it is becoming night time, the power grid is not nearly as taxed at night then it is during the day. So, you plug your Volt in and it charges over night, GM has stated that recharging the Volt will cost about 80 cents per kilowatt hour. That is really not that much. I hope this clears things up a bit.

Also the Insight looks horrible. It looks like Honda got lazy with their design (like usual) and just copied the Prius. Seriously the front end is the only thing that really looks any different. The whole car just looks like a really weirdly shaped egg.

With a remarkable power train new technology the exterior look is common, without creativity , but interior is pretty well.
