I spent quite a bit of time researching this and found loads of threads with lots of conflicting opinions about whether this unit would work with the stock radio. Frankly, it was very confusing, so here's the dealio to help clear things up for those who are interested.

The GM9-AUX will work with the 2000-2002 AM/FM/Single CD OEM headunit equiped with an external cassette deck even though PIE's instructions first say it will and then later go on to say it won't work. All you need to do is disconnect the cassette connector from the back of the headunit and replace it with the male connector of the GM9-AUX cable. I DID NOT connect the cassette deck male connector to the female connector of the GM9-AUX cable. I just left them dangling. I have no idea what will happen if you do connect them, but since everything worked the way I wanted it to, I didn't see the point in connecting them.

Be aware that the cassette deck will no longer work at this point. One other thing to note is that the "CD" indicator (the one which tells you you have a CD in the player) will remain lit on the radio display even if you don't have a disk in the CD player. This is due to the GM9-AUX emulating a CD changer.

Once you have everything back together, simply press the CD/AUX button to toggle between listening to your build-in CD player and your AUX device (mp3 player, iPod, XM, etc.). When you are in AUX mode, the display on the radio will show Disk 1 / Track 1.

I hope this helps somebody.

Steve
