2001 5.3 ext cab silverado 4x4 101k miles

recently i removed and cleaned my MAF with plastic safe MAF sensor cleaner for advance auto. while i had it out i went ahead and cleaned the throttle body with o2 sensor safe carb/ throttle body cleaner. it was so dirty the throttle would get stuck closed and i would have to stomp the pedal to get it unstuck. when cleaning it black sludge poured out. after putting the air tube and MAF back in the truck would barely run. it ran rough for the rest of the day. it runs smooth now but with reduced power and horrible fuel mileage. could all of that crud dislodged by cleaning the throttle body gotten stuck somewhere and caused this?

thanks

I's suspect the MAF. It's a pretty sensitive item and you can damage it easily. Also make sure you don't have any air leaks in the reinstalled intake.

I hope you removed the TB when you cleaned it. Cleaning the TB involves removing it, then removing the IAC valve and cleaning the idle air passage too. MAKE SURE you properly tighten the TB nuts to the correct spec(can't remember what that is at the moment) because not doing so may cause vacuum to leak out from behind it. The TB has to be clean enough to eat off of. You could also try running some Sea Foam through the intake. It's possible, if you didn't remove the TB when you cleaned it, that the sludge may have fouled up a spark plug or two so you need to remove and clean them, even replace them if you haven't already done so. That would explain the crappy fuel mileage. Also, with the key off, make sure the IAC valve and TPS connectors are firmly in place.
