Cam Swap On A 2007 6.0l Silverado

I am looking at putting in a more aggressive cam on my 2007 Silverado Vortec Max, with the 6.0L (RPO code L76 i believe), and I was looking for some recomendations. What cam did you go with, and what kind of results did you get out of it. I figure there are more than a handful that have, and this is the best way to get some insight!

Thanks!

Currently I have only done KN intake and Exhaust, 3.5" pipe back to a single/single Flowmaster. I am also planning on doing headers, but no plan for a blower at this time. And if possible I wouldn't want to have to replace the torque converter yet, but will if its a must.

So are you running an extended cab short bed 2wd, or a crew cab 4x4? Weight plays a big difference, my truck (RC SB 2wd) weighed in at 4200 lbs on the scales, while a 4x4 crew cab is in the 5300+ range. A decent rule of thumb is every 100lbs lost in vehicle weight is good for .1 in the 1/4 mile.

If your just looking for all around power from a 6.0 I'd look into a Thunder Racing 220/220 cam, it should be a good off the shelf cam for a 6.0 to wake up. Combine that with a custom tune and the truck will really run. Whatever cam you go with you will need new push rods (7.4" with stock sized base circle) and new valve springs. In the end it's excellent bang for the buck.

The L76 is somewhat of a mystery to me. I know the LQ4, and the L92. Have the LQ4 in my Hummer, and the L92 in my Denali.

Here's what I do know. The L92 is blessed with unported LS7 heads and intake. Those heads, intake, throttle body, injectors, bolts and other hardware can be had on line through Chevy for less than $1500. Those heads along with a smallish cam has made in excess of 500HP when bolted atop a lowly LQ4 Iron block 6.0!!!!!!!!!!

Keep the cam around say 220 degrees and on a 114 degree CL and you're talking well in excess of 500HP and great driveability. You will need to do a custom tune though.

I had a cam put in my Z06, that cost $2500. The custom tune was another $400, but that was the best $400 I ever spent on a mod. That vette became, well, uncontrollable in any gear below 3rd.

My Denali with 403HP is pretty darn quick already so I can just imagine another 25% HP. That is getting into drag racing territory, but if you want the best, I'd go for it. I am, in fact. Modding my H2 with the above, then later will add a bump stick to the Denali.

It is an extended cab regualar bed z71, sorry in retrospect I guess that is rather pertinent information!

I was thinking about the situation for a good part of the day at work, and am thinking of doing a set of headers first before I get the cam, but regardless looking to do it all this winter. Most of the people I hang out with are all into building their F-body Camaros and TAs, so I'm just thinking it would be a hell of a good time to have something that will run with them, or at least hold its own considering it is a 4wd full size truck.

I appreciate all of the input from everyone, and I'm rather new to the forum, so this is a warm welcome! Any ideas on a good set of long tubes for the aforementioned truck?

I have the AEM Brute Force Sport LTs on my Tahoe and also on the SSS and have no qualms. I forget what cam we have in the SSS but it has a blower, I am happy with the 206/212 115LSA cam I have on mine as I have not changed the torque converter (probably will when the Radix goes on though).
