While reviewing USA tire manufactures - Goodyear being one of the last - trying to buy USA .. A disturbing article regarding Carry-rights for legally obtained sidearms..

Cant go buy Tires while carrying legally ...

I'd hate to have to boycott a USA owned company espeically in today's economy ..

"In an effort to ensure the safety and security of our associates and customers, we have a clear company policy regarding weapons in the workplace. The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. prohibits all persons who enter Company property from carrying a handgun, firearm, or prohibited weapon of any kind onto the property regardless of whether the person is licensed to carry the weapon or not. Exceptions apply to on-duty law enforcement personnel. This policy applies to all Company employees, visitors, customers, and contractors on Company property -- including our Company-owned stores.

All Company properties have received the decal or sign you referenced, and have been instructed to post it.

Thank you for the email. Please get back to me if I can provide further information."

Control control laws are a result of ignorance in the process of lawmaking. It is pure fantasy to think a Gun-Free zone will protect you from a from someone intent on causing harm. Criminals, by nature, do not follow rules. Simply put, someone who is deranged enough to use a firearm to attack you isn't going to be stopped by a sign that says he or she cannot carry the weapon. On the other hand, Gun-Free zones effectively prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves.

I have sent a email to Mr. Markey expressing my concern about this.....after all didn't the Supreme Court uphold the 2nd Aamendment?

I agree that it's not a big deal, but not just because someone can't bring a gun "to go buy tires." I don't see the big deal because this isn't news.

Even Texas, a wildly liberal state with the strictest of gun control laws and a history of court decisions reflecting so (research "Joe Horn"), has an opt-out law that says if a business doesn't want to allow concealed handguns, then they can post an appropriate sign not allowing them.

This is nothing new.

Well, I have a carry permit.

I carry almost everywhere I go. I have never had to use it, but I would, if necessary.

If I am out and about and need tires... I will have to go home... leave my pistol at home... then go back to the Goodyear and spend money at a place that DOES NOT RESPECT my rights as a free American citizen.

Ain't gonna happen.

I will buy something else. Period... end of story.

Was buying a new car a few years ago... they had a sign prohibiting concealed carry. I asked the salesman about it. He confirmed it. He got the sales manager for me.

I told him I was buying a car TODAY... but not from him and that was the reason why.

After I got the new one, I went back there and showed it to them so they knew that they really DID lose a sale because of the stupid sign.

We have lost so many rights already, I take the few we have left very seriously.

Right on, ensuring safety by disarming qualified and trained permit holders from carrying is not the way to go. People don't realize that their life may be saved one day by the defense of a CCW holder.

Hero With Concealed Weapon Saves Woman

By Rob on August 30, 2005 at 10:08 am 2 Comments

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A fatal shooting at an Albuquerque Wal-Mart last week was the state's first by someone with a concealed-carry gun permit, authorities said.

Police said Felix Vigil was attacking his ex-wife with a knife near the store's deli counter where she worked when an armed customer intervened and shot him. The woman, Joyce Cordova, was treated for multiple stab wounds and later released from an Albuquerque hospital.

The armed customer, 72-year-old Due Moore, was interviewed after the shooting last Thursday and released.

Police spokeswoman Officer Trish Hoffman said it appeared the shooting was justified. However, it will be up to the district attorney to decide whether Moore, a volunteer with the police department's cold case unit, will be prosecuted.

Contrary to popular belief, private ownership of guns does not increase crime, it decreases it.

After all, an armed society is a polite society.
