My 99 2500 has 42000 on it, I plan on doing some heavy towing and wonder if you guys and gals have had your 4L80E serviced and if you got the flush for the whole thing , converter, tranny and a filter or what and what would this cost at the dealer?  Also how about a frequency  on this interval. thanks in advance.

I do mine at about 40,000 miles and it costs me about $75.00. It is definitely better than just a filter change.

$75 sounds about right.

You wouldn't believe the sh*t you'll see flushed out if you watch!  It's simply amazing what crud gets caught up in there.

I also flush the engine oil at around 50k.  It's simply amazing seeing what comes out.

How about disconnecting the cooler lines and using compressed air to get most of the fluid out of the converter?  Any check valves to prevent that?

Flushing has nothing to do with the filter other than replacing it with a fresh one before you bolt it all back together.  It's kinda hard to explain how it works but BG products is the maker.  It's essentially a power flush system.

I would hesitate to use compressed air not only can you damage something, but the air is only compressed for so far into the system.
