Anyone else missing paint on the bottom side of the back fender wells where the bed skin and the wheel tub come togather?

Mine just looks like they missed painting the body seam. Went to the dealer and I have go to their body shop on Monday to see if it will be covered. You might want to check your fender wells on the 07's and make sure they are fully painted.

My black '07 is the same way in the wheelwells. It is also missing paint behind the hinges on the extended cab doors. They offered to paint it but I am way to picky. After being a body man for 4 years I notice all of the differences in the paint from factory to the new paint job. They would have to break it all down and repaint the whole thing to blend in. But it is just in the door jambs and so far I am the only one who notices.

We've had GM buy back some vehicles for not having paint in the door jambs.

It seems like there getting really cheap on there paint jobs,fortunetly my '07,and my past trucks,have all had excellent paint jobs.

Primer is showing in places under most of the trucks (including mine) I've seen. A lot of the underside of the bed is just primed anyway, so it really isn't any more of an issue than the floor underneath.

We've had GM buy back some vehicles for not having paint in the door jambs.
It seems like there getting really cheap on there paint jobs,fortunetly my '07,and my past trucks,have all had excellent paint jobs.

Are some of those bad paint jobs from the Mexico plants? That might explain a lot.

A bad paint job can be a serious issue in the northern states. Any bare metal won't last long with the salt.

I just scuffed up my wheel wells today, and sprayed them with rubber undercoating. That's what I did on my last truck, and it held up well for 8 years. I didn't have any bare spots in my wells, but that paint sure isn't very thick....

From what I have read, I think it's just the opposite. It seems (but I cannot say this is a fact) that the Oshawa plant has the most paint issues. My truck is from Mexico and my paint is flawless.

I guess I should mention that my truck is a Canadian built truck. How did GM buy back those trucks? I raised hell and all they would do is paint the bad spots. I just said no thanks.

My truck is from Mexico as well and, while not flawless (I'm picky), the paint is extremely good. My only complaint is that it appears to chip easy but I do not think that is unique to GM at all b/c my wife's new BMW appears to chip easier than the last one. Other than that, I'm satisfied with the paint job.

The '07 Silverado I used to have was from Oshawa and it looked like a chocolate brown in the direct sunlight instead of the black it was supposed to be. I could also see through the paint to the primer in certain areas...crazy.

backardsthread - I do agree with you about working on the factory paint, but this is just under the wheel wells, so blending etc should not be an issue as long as it is close. It will hopefully always be in shadow anyway.

My paint is thin to me, but looking at wife's maxima so is hers. I think the bigger part of it all is it so brittle. I added a color match bug deflector just to keep some of the rock chips off the hood. I guess I will look at the underside of the bed and cab tomorrow.

The wheel wells don't really bother me, it is the door jambs that bother me the most. I went to there body man, which they contract out, and he told me he could fix it but man I don't like tape lines and the no paint issue is actually on the door edge as well. I really don't like the idea of repainting a truck that is brand new.

My truck was built at Fort Wayne,In. The paint is nice and pretty flawless.

My last four trucks ('94-'97-'99-'04) were all built at the Oshawa plant and the paint was nice on them as well.

The truck I had with the nicest paint job was my '94 S10 ZR2 which was built at Shreveport,La. the paint on it was glass smooth,no "orange peel" at all,it did tend to chip real easy though,I had to put mud flaps on it right away (which I always do anyway)

I only had that truck for 11,000 miles so I don't really know how well it held up,last time I knew though the guy had 186,000 miles on it!!!!!

I have no idea Matt,I guess the customers just called GM and complained enough.
