Buying A Truck

Fellas,

 

Looking to buy a new ride. I'm not sure to go with the 2006 Silverado 1500, or 2007.

 

Pros? Cons? Got my eye on a 2006 with 35k on it for $17000. Crew cab, V6.

 

Anybody want to buy an '02 2500HD with 56k on it?

Are you looking at a 2007 as well? Or are you just wondering in general? Is it a 2007 classic?

 

My opinion is a 2007 Classic and 2006 may not be that much different. I mean you really can only compare dollars, miles, and condition. I wouldn't be afraid to buy an 06. But a 2007 GMT900, that's a whole different animal. I would wager it will be more expensive than your 06 or 07 classic.

 

I'd be really worried about the V6 in a crew cab. It's a good little engine, as most guys here will tell ya, but you're talking about a big truck. I loved my 99 RCSB with the V6, and it was adequately powered. I didn't even know you could get it in a crew cab.

Do you do any hauling or towing? If so, then V6 with a crew cab might be a little small. Is the 2007 a GMT800 or GMT900? I would do a little research on the price for the 2006 to see how competitive that price is.

No, I don't do any towing/hauling. I do pull around a jon boat 2 or 3 times a year in the spring time, but that's all. I'm deciding if I want to go with the cheaper sticker of the 2006, or go ahead and get the GMT900 in hopes that it'll hold its resale value a little longer.

 

I love the truck I have now, lots of good memories, but I'm ready to downsize. Doing nothing besides getting groceries in a 2500HD makes my pants feel bigger, but my brain smaller.
