Topper...

The color-matched topper on my truck came with it (I bought the truck slightly used). Recently I was hauling furniture and decided "what a hassle this thing is!" When it comes down to it, the topper limits hauling to about the same as if I had a Suburban. Now I'm thinking about selling it and getting a bed cover that I can open up to haul without the restrictions of the topper.

Topper owners, am I over-analyzing this? Bed cover owners, should I get rid of it in favor of a bed cover?

I think the topper looks fine on your truck, as is. However, if you're hauling furniture and other things enough that you're having to take it off a lot, maybe getting rid of it is a viable option. If it's an "every now and then" thing, I say leave it and pull it off when you need the extra height.

Not a fan of toppers but that's just me. If your looking at tonnaeu covers take a look at Bakflip G2. I've looked and all the removable tonnaeu covers and this one seems to be the best.

I like the covered dry (and secure) storage a shell provides. I've had bed covers and hated them. Everything you need to haul is too tall to fit. If it's not nice weather, it sucks.

Normally I'd say keep it. But the topper on your truck looks to be one of the "cheaper" models. I say lose it. Now if it was a Leer 100XQ or 100XL I'd say keep it!

Thanks to everyone for the inputs. It's not a cheap topper, fits better than the pic makes it look and is an exact color match. And I can't take it off myself since I don't have a lift. So it's keep it permanently or lose it permanently. Or is it just that we want whatever it is that we don't have?

It's not a total loss, you can always sell it on craigslist and use that towards your bakflip G2. I think Santa is going to be bringing me one. One more thing, it dosen't lock so you'll need to have a locking bed door handle. There pretty cheap, gmdirect sells them for $36, but you'll need to have it keyed.
