Whislte Below Windshield

I have a 2003 Tahoe and 2003 Silverado both with the same problem.

 

2003 Tahoe

At speeds above 45 mph, there is a definate whistle that is wind related. It seems to come from below the windshield or in the dash. I have tried turning the AC off and on and moving the windshield wipers. It seems like it is coming firewall. It does not do this in the winter (AZ 65 degrees) and but allows when the car is hot (AZ 115 degrees).

 

2003 Silverado (regular cab)

At speeds above 65 mph, this is very loud whistle comes from below the windshield or from the dash. Again, it seems only to be wind related. I have tried turning the AC off and on and moving the windshield wipers. It happens whether it is hot or cold.

 

I did a search on the site and could not find solution. Any help anyone?

No bug guards. The Silverado has one of those short antennas. If I had to guess, it would be in the firewall but those noises have a way of not indicating exactly were they are coming from.

I had a tahoe that did the same thing and had the window resealed 3 times and still did it so I gave up and got a new truck

Remove the antenna and see if it goes away, my 04 did this and it was the antenna.

This is a LOUD whistle inside the cab. It could be the antenna but since the Silverado has a short stubby after market antenna and the Tahoe the OEM version and neither vehicle whistle until recently, I doubt if that is the source.

 

I have talked to several other owners of GM trucks that are 5 years old and they are getting the whistle also. Somebody has had to figure this one out.
