Okay So I Have A 1997 Chevy Cheyenne.

One Night I Was Driving It And Noticed The Battery Light Came On And The Truck Started Cutting Out.

I Get It Home And The Next Day It Seems To Be Fine And I Drive It To Work.

When I Got Off My Truck Was Dead No Power At All.

So I Get A Jump From A Buddy And Truck Starts And Runs Fine.

I Turn It Off And Start It Right Back Up.

Next Morning Its Dead Again.

So I Put A New Fully Charged Battery In It.

The Truck Started But The Battery Light Was On.

Truck Ran For 30 Seconds Or So And Rived Up A Few Times And Died.

It Done That A Few Times Then Wouldnt Start At All.

Any Idea What This Could Be?

If the battery light keeps comming on I would suspect the alternator(diode failure is a possibilty, causeing it to barely charge or rundown when off because voltage passes back through it) and its connections(also for corrosion and bad connections on the cables to the battery and grounds) before a battery.

Running for 30 seconds and cutting off could be a failure to learn idle(don't remember that happening on a truck but a Deville I worked on the other day did it), did you try keeping the RPM steady for a minute or so to see if it leveled off? It could also be a result of a weak battery.

Edit: Read your other post of this copyed elsewhere. The "battery light" is a chargeing system light, not just for the battery it the whole system that maintains it.

Wow, that shift key must be worn out by now. Isn't that a PITA typing that way? Oh, and it's a bitch to read too.

No offense, just some constructive criticism. :banghead:

Ha ha I don't know why i type like that. Its just a habit i have. Its hard for me not to.

Thank you for the help.

I had the alternator checked and it was bad.

diode failure was the problem.

i had them repair it.

Im going to pick it up tomorrow and put it on hopefully this solves the problem.
