Bringing The '95 Into The 21st Century.

Here is my newest addition to the truck, the Kenwood KCA-BT200. Got it last Tuesday and installed it on Wednesday. It adds hands-free calling via Bluetooth to my truck by plugging into the CD changer input on my Kenwood headunit. It also allows me to stream music wirelessly from my cell phone to the headunit as well.

See the Cindy Crawford in my truck?

While driving and listening to music normally, it shows my phone's battery and signal strength above the main display as well.

It works great. I had no problem pairing it with my Samsung SLM (meh), when I turn on my ignition it automatically connects with my cell phone still in my pocket. Everyone I talked to with this unit told me that the sound is crystal clear, and most couldn't even tell they were on speaker phone. Whenever I receive a call, the music pauses and the caller's name and number shows on the display. If I want to take the call, I just press the Volume button. If I want to reject the call, I just press the Mute button, simple as that. As soon I disconnect the calls, the music resumes where it left off. It's seamless.

It also allows you to make a call either by dialing a number with the remote, speed-dialing using the preset buttons, or scrolling through your phonebook. You can also search through your phonebook by initials, or redial one of your ten last incoming and outgoing calls.

I have noticed two issues though. First, if I turn the ignition off and then on again quickly, I'll usually have to reconnect with the BT200 manually using my phone. Second, the last ten incoming and outgoing call lists don't work correctly with my phone. It's usually just a random list of calls I've had somewhat recently, nothing is in any order.

Very cool...hey, that thing can't be tapped into by the cops to gather driving data so they can give you a speeding ticket, or worse yet, know what you ate for dinner last night...can it?

That's friggin awesome! You seem to enjoy things with wires. :D Want to wire up some lights for me?
If you drive halfway across the country, sure.

So that must have something to do with why my truck shut down when I tried to run from the cops last night...
