Yes, i was wondering what i can do to get more power out of my 4.8L. it is an Automatic. Do i need a programmer, exhaust, bigger injectors or what and what combo of things would be the best. Everything is stock on the truck still, all comments welcome and thanks

Depends on what the purpose is for more power. More power for towing? More power for more performance fun?

ok sounds good, is there anyone in particular and what about a small supercharger nothing with alot of power just something with like 8 or 9 PSI?

You can do quite a lot with software on these trucks. Software like HPTuners can adjust many things like the spark, timing, fuel/air ratio, shift points, fuel pressure, transmission pressure, speed limiter cutout, etc. I just purchased the software last week and I'm quite new to it. I'll be doing a lot of reading on HPTuners.com forum to determine settings. Many of the settings are standard presets such as: Standard/Performance/Unleashed. You can do some serious damage if you get too carried away but, some reading and feedback on the forums is a good idea.

As for the hardware, try to get with some of the other users here who are die-hard gearheads. They may read this topic and add too. (I hope!)

Now you are speaking my language. I had a big response typed up & Firefox decided to close itself.

Magnacharger sells a complete kit for trucks for a $5500. Should be good for close to 400rwhp/tq. You can always swap pulleys and make more boost, and down the road get headers, cam, ported heads, etc.

IMO roots blowers like magnachargers (Eaton), Kenne Bell, Whipple, etc. sell are inferior to turbochargers. Turbo's have more room to grow, and with the right size & components can make the same low end tq a roots blower will make. Roots blowers IMO are inferior for a few reasons. 1. No room to grow. You can only spin them faster to force in more air, which 2. makes more heat. 3. Eventually you will be out of the efficiency range of said blower. But the good thing about Magnacharger blower kits is they offer a standard 3 year warranty and an optional 3 year 36,000 mile power train warranty.

I've seen 76mm front mount turbo's on LS1's @ 7 PSI make 500whp/tq on bone stock LS1's with nothing more than bigger fuel injectors, and also make 350ft lbs @ 3000 rpm. Toss in a $200 LS6 cam/$50 LS6 springs and $100 push rods and that same LS1 can make close to 600rwhp.

Here's some companies who make supercharger & turbo kits for these trucks. If you like turbo's make sure to get the optional intercooler.

Or you can get a complete nitrous system for $1000, spray it when you want, and fill the bottle for $40 when your out. I love mine, a 100 wet shot landed me 92 rwhp & 172 rwtq on a very conservative/safe/grandma 19* timing tune.

Yea, im old school and like root style blowers but i want something more effecient plus it will be a daily driver and i dont want to have to worry about it being reliable and i dont want to make alot of power and kill my gas mileage completely, i dunno if that helps out or makes sense lol

There's nothing wrong with roots blowers! But if your aiming for competition I'd go straight for a turbo set-up :fume: Magnacharger has a very excellent reputation, have a great kit, make good torque & power, and like I said come with a really nice warranty. For $5500 for a complete A-Z kit they are hard to beat.

Plus they sound & look cool! 3073767_29_full.jpg

Best way to go is software. The most you'll spend is $600 on software and you can tweak all kinds of stuff. Increase HP which in turn increases MPG. Spending thousands on hyped up equipment to make a smaller engine scream results in short-lived, torched engines. If you were willing to put the cash out for a different motor, it would be better to get a 6.0L and drop that in. With HPTuners on a 6.0, that would be pretty impressive. Like I said though, I'm new to the HPTuners software and have heard a lot of good about it.
