08 Sierra All Terrain/denali Door Moldings

Well guys, I've got a bit of a dilemma. My truck got scraped up pretty bad in a parking lot today by some inconsiderate idiot, and now there's a nice gouge in the molding on my drivers' side rear door. With the rest of the truck being completely flawless and still only having 1500 miles on it, I want to fix this up right. I'm just trying to weigh my options, here.

I can always just fix up the molding and re-paint it, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if these moldings come from the factory pre-painted. I need one for an '08 crew cab in Stealth Gray.

Any ideas, anyone? Thanks! :fume:

When I checked into these molding for my truck, I was told "no". Plus they were VERY expensive, something like $200/each IIRC (before painting). Needless to say, i still have my stock ones.

Replacing and/or re-painting the molding is a lot better than body work. Just imagine what would have happened WITHOUT the molding there. :fume:

Also, could you take some pictures of the damage?

I'll have to grab pics once the weather improves; right now I doubt you'd be able to see much.

I'm not really talking about body work so much at this point, my main reasoning is that I always prefer factory paint to "aftermarket" paint, so if I could simply replace the part (take the old one off, clean up the tape residue, and install the new one) instead of having to pull the original piece off, prep it for paint, paint it, and then reinstall, that would be an option I'd consider.

If they're $200 a pop, though, and don't come painted at that price, I guess repairing this one is going to be the best option. Luckily I have experience shooting paint, so I can do it myself for the cost of some paint at the local finishmaster.
