Fixed A Rattle

Well for the past couple of months an annoying rattle was coming from the lower part of my dash every time I would hit a small bump. So, yesterday I finally took my dash apart and found out what was causing it. Here are some pictures of what I found. The big silver thing is what was rattling. It is secured to the plastic behind it at the bottom by two screws and then it hangs at an angle so as to allow the plastic cover to angle up. Now what happens is when you hit a bump it vibrates back and forth and hits the plastic behind it.

 

 

So what I did was get some foam tape and wrap it in electrical tape and put it between the big silver thing and the plastic behind it. In the first picture it located right in the center of the picture to the right of the blue writing.

 

In this picture it is located again in the center of the picture but behind the strip of electrical tape.

 

Now today I drove my truck and no more rattles. If you have any question on how I took apart my dash or anything like that just ask away.

Good info and pics...thank you! I have not noticed a rattle coming from that area but now I know where to look if it appears.
