Crap like that is why I will never live somewhere that has an HOA.

 

And if I were in that guy's shoes, I'd be looking to buy the ugliest, most beat up POS that I could find that didn't run a foul of their rules. Think of something like a mid 80's Ford LTD, with a rattle can paint job. I'd also drill a hole in the muffler, and dump a quart of oil into each tank of gas so that it smoked like a chimney.

I read another story on this with a slightly different take. This one has some more "spin" on it. It appears that the HOA had the rules in place even before the homes were built. The F150 guy is just trying to circumvent the rules after the fact. You SIGN a document clearly stating the rules and regulations of the HOA when you buy a home in Texas. Not really much you can bitch about if you don't read it.

 

I thought my HOA was bad. You have to submit everything to the architectural committee before making any changes... even paint or trim colors. You can't even park a company truck with a name of the company on it here... but it keeps the neighborhood looking nice. (plus I don't drive one) Our HOA isn't too militant but it is a pain at times.
