1996 4x4

I use this truck to plow snow and when I went to use it for the first time this year the 4x4 won't engage.

I don't have a wiring diagram and don't even know which fuse to check??

I've read the posts about the ball switch, which I will follow but I really should check the fuse first.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

there isa a fuse panel LH side of dash, open drivers door and you will see it below the blower vent....

most common probs are actuator and ball switch...>stump

Thanks - yes the fuse panel is missing the cover so I don't know which fuse is actually the right one that engages the 4x4??

I didn't know squat about GM's 4x4 systems before joining this site. Thanks to these guys I had my front diff. and axle working again....the actuator which engages the front diff. had taken a crap.I replaced it with a new one from GM(upgraded version) and BINGO! 4 wheel drive again....check your repair manual(you do have one don't you?) it will show you how to replace it.If you replace the fuse like stumppuller says and keeps blowing it's probably the actuator...happened to me........
