ok idk how dumb of a question this is but is there a bigger diff then the 1500 being a 1/2 ton and the 2500 being a 3/4 ton

Um, there are differences in the engines, transmissions, frames, rear ends, body work, etc. What differences specifically are you looking in?

edit: Crap are you talking specifically talking about the rear differential and or rear axle as well?

Yup, that's pretty much the only difference. :idiot:

i was just trying to see how close you chould get to making a 1500 to a 2500

If you are trying to convert a 1500 into a 2500, that is gonna take a heck a lot more than the rear diff. I believe that the 1500 equipped with the 6.0 has the same rear diff as the 2500 'base' model. the 2500 has the 6.6 option which inherently changes the trans and rear diff. are you looking for towing/strength/payload in the 1500?

You could make it a carbon copy. But it would be far cheaper to just buy a 2500.

:idiot: +1, 2500HDs have a slightly higher selling price than 1500s but you get a 'better' truck all the way around with the 2500HD (that is if you are going to use it). Some 3500HDs are very close to the 2500HDs but it all depends on what you are going to use it for.

no i was just coming up with ideas

but i would like more power

couple of ways:

get a crate 6.0 with a FLT trans

get a supercharger

get a tune (with or without a supercharger)

change the rear end ratio

do all of the above

slap a 6.0 LQ9 in there w/ a 4L80E and 9.5" semi floating rear (w/ disc brakes) and some air springs to suppor the load. you'll be good to go.

All parts are direct bolt on, you could do all that for less then 5 grand with the right shopping skills.
