It will be off by exactly the same percentage as the difference in the tires.

 

If your new tire is 5% larger, the speedo and odometer will be off by that much.

Nope, the speedometer and odometer will be off, but this can be corrected with a custom tune, or a programmer. How much larger than stock are you going?

Unless you are going huge difference in overall diameter, the difference probably isn't worth worrying over. I've run larger tires on almost every truck I ever owned and never altered the programming. Never a problem.

 

Going bigger does affect final drive gear ratio and performance though.

With the stock 245's on, my speedometer read 53 mph when radar shows me going 50 mph. I put 265 winter tires on and now my speedometer is smack on.

I had 265/75/R16's on with a westers tune and I now put on some narrower taller tires for winter. Trxus MT 255/85/R16. I new my speedo would be off but not sure how the odometer got it's reading. I expected a little worse mileage with the taller heavier tire but I was wondering how the odometer would be impacted. Will it show me getting better mileage or worse mileage with the larger tire? I will get my tune updated in the near future since it only cost me shipping to do so.

Same here! I swapped out the OEM 245/70-17's for 255/75-17's and my speedo is off by .1 mpg! Doesn't get much more accurrate than that!

Your speedometer will read ~4.5% slower than it was reading with the 265's. The odometer will also read ~4.5% less miles traveled.
