2009 Silverado Z60?

Does the Z60 suspension use different springs and/or shocks than the Z85 package? The Chevy brochure just comments about the larger front sway bar.

I am looking for the smoothest, most car-like ride possible and this truck will not be taken off-road or used for towing. It will be used by my elderly parents and will have mobility equipment installed for my mother. I figure the base Z85 suspension and 18" wheels that come on the LTZ crew cab 4WD would fit this bill.

However, I'd like to order the 6.2L engine, but you either have to get the Z71 package, or the 20" chrome wheels that come with the Z60 suspension.

I was thinking about getting the Z60 in order to get the 6.2L engine and see if the dealer would swap out the 20" wheels/tires for a set of the standard 18" wheels/tires (or sell the 20's on my own). How would the ride of a Z60 with 18" wheels/tires compare to a Z71 with 18"wheels/tires? A 2008 Z71 was their previous truck and it rode a little stiff/choppy (their ride before that was a '90 Cadillac Brougham).

Thanks,

Danny

The Z60 suspension will handle curves better, but it is a MUCH harsher ride than either the Z71 or the Z85 suspensions.

Mine came with the Z60 and 20" wheels and it cornered nicley but was VERY harsh. I sold the 20's and went with 18's and that improved it alot, but it's still harsh compared to the other 2.

Hey Danny,

Just seen your post, I was thinking that a vehicle with Autoride may be what your parents need. Looks like it is available on the Avalanche, and Suburban, I cant seem to find anything about the Silverado having it.

I have the Z60 I think it rides great. Didnt know it could get better but to be fair i had a 2002 camaro before so. Now if i see railroad tracks i get excited all i feel is a slight thump :hitit: . It does handle good for a truck
