JUST ORDERED A NEW AIRAID SYSTEM FOR MY 98 SMC

5.7.    I KNOW I CAN DITCH THE SENSOR THAT IS SUPPOSED

TO TELL ME WHEN THE AIR FILTER IS DIRTY BUT I DON'T

KNOW WHAT THE OTHER SENSOR NEXT TO IT IS.  IT HAS TWO WIRES AND IS PLUGGED INTO THE AIR INTAKE HOSE BETWEEN THE FILTER AND THE MAF SENSOR. I DON'T BELIEVE

THE AIRAID HAS A PLACE TO PLUG THIS IN. ANY INPUT WOULD

BE APPRECIATED THANKS.

That would be the IAT sensor.  Measures the intake air temperature and adjusts the air/fuel mix accordingly.

Be careful not to break that sensor.  They are VERY delicate.

There should be a hole on the Airaid intake tube for this.

I had an Airaid on my 99 Tahoe.  You will need to put this on your airaid setup.

Hey Speedzone, question for you, why did you chose the airaid over the K&N. I under stand you are putting on 98 and the metal tube of the airaid to me looks better than the plastic that the K&N has but what other reasons. To all, are there any power differences in the two? observation ....Iwhish you could get metal tube set up for 99 plus trucks!!!!

STEVE I INSTALLED THE AIRAID LAST FRIDAY AND THE INSTRUCTIONS TOLD ME ABOUT THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR

BUT THANKS FOR THE ANSWER!

LIKAROK I CHOSE THE AIRAID OVER THE K&N BECAUSE OF

THE LOOKS BUT ALSO BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. I ADDED TRUE DUALS WITH FLOWMASTERS THE WEEK BEFORE I PUT ON THE

AIRAID AND RIGHT KNOW I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE SOUND AND THE THROTTLE REPSPONSE. THE K&N MIGHT BE BETTER BECAUSE IT PICKS UP MORE COLD AIR.
