to install a 1992 c1500 350 f.i. engine into a 1972 c10. am transfering all wiring and controllers to 1972 c10 my problem is 1992 fuel tank wont fit on frame and under bed of 1972. what would be the best way to supply fuel to engine. what pump and regulator would supply ample pressure and volume but not too much.

hey,

I put a tbi engine in a 1975 chevy and pretty much did the same thing that you are doing. I left the original tank in the 75 and just had to fab up a return line for the unused fuel. I used a holley electric fuel pump (I believe it was the blue series, regulator came with it.). The TBI only needs 14psi of fuel pressure. There are lots of electric fuel pumps out there. When you install the fuel pump make sure that you put a fuel filter in line before the pump. Also, I would recomend wiring in the pump to the original circuit in the donors wiring harness (for safety).

If I recall the 72 has the tank behind the seat in the cab. So, the return line could be a bit of a challange, but possible. On my 75 I ran the return line into a splice in the filler neck. of course it was rubber. I don't remember if you have a hard neck on your fuel tank.

There are companies out there that market things for a retrofit like you are doing. They are often pricey but good sources for ideas to help your project along. Its been a few years since I did my install so I don't recall any of the sites out there, but I am sure you can google it.
