What Do You Think Of This Truck/price? '05 Gmc

I've been looking at trucks, selling my '95 Silverado, and found an '05 GMC, 53k miles (too many... BUT - man, it is a nice truck!) at local dealer.

Here are the details:

Description

This 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLT 4X4 is silver with gray leather interior. It is equipped with a Vortec 5300 V8 engine and an automatic transmission. The options and features include: Dual-Stage Front Airbags, Front-Passenger Sensing System, OnStar Safe & Sound System Capability, PASSlock Theft Deterrent System, 10-Way Power Driver Seat, 2-Position Driver Memory System, 7-Inch Flip-Down Color Screen, AM/FM Stereo w/Compact Disc Player, Cruise Control, Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control System, Electric Rear Window Defogger, Electrochromic Interior Rearview Mirror, Heated Reclining Front Bucket Seats, Leather Upholstery, Power Door Locks, Power Windows w/Driver Express Down, Rear Seat Entertainment System w/DVD Player, Tilt Steering Wheel, Driver-Side Electrochromic Exterior Mirror, Front Frame-Mounted Recovery Hooks, Front Halogen Fog Lights, Intermittent Windshield Wipers, Power Heated Exterior Mirrors, Remote Keyless Entry System, Solar-Ray Deep-Tinted Rear Windows, Solar-Ray Light Tinted Windows, 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System, Autotrac 4-Wheel Drive System, Power 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Sequential Fuel Injection, Tachometer

It is listed for $18,995 - NO WAY would I pay that for it - but, it is definitely my dream truck! I could not afford one like it new - leather heated seats, etc.

What y'all think I should offer? Also, any issues with that year/model I should know?

Is it and extended cab or crew cab? If it's a crew cab, that price probably isn't too far off. Sounds like a nice truck.

Thanks, Tahoe. I forgot that important detail - yes, it is the crew cab - full four doors. It also has new tires they installed. Got to go drive it more... price not too far off, eh? I'll see... I move slow, but this one is nice. Don't like the mileage on it, but I think it was a trade in, one owner.

That's not really too many miles, but it may depend on how many you plan on putting on it per year. I know the market's a little different now, but that's less than I paid for a 3 year old extended cab back in 2003. It had 45000 on it then.

Sounds like a nice truck.

Miles are a LITTLE BIT high... but not too bad.

With the truck market as soft as it is right now....I would make them a real lowball offer and go from there.

53k isn't really that many miles on an 05 depending upon when it was bought. They're selling 09s now so figure it was bought exactly four years ago. 4*12k is 48,000 miles so 5k more really isn't too bad.

son, see, that's what I was thinking too! Maybe I can use your information for help if I negotiate on this one. The one you mention in Syracuse - all the goodies - you mean heated leather seats, etc.? Z71 4x4, etc.?

I was thinking of offering him about $12k, and NOT going over about $13,500 absolute max. Even then, I am hesitant. But, the appealing thing about this one is one owner, local trade in, and looks and drives like new, plus must have been the very high end model for '05.

Thanks all, for your help - this forum is working for me! BTW, concerning specific '05 issues - I can't find anything by searching, but anything I might need to know about? TSBs, etc.

Thanks, 08Z; I'm not too far from Charlotte, and not averse to getting one somewhere else. The '05 I found is the 4x4 Z71 - not that I really need that, but would be nice. IF insurance would not be higher for 4WD.

I have a bad back, not the youngest on the block anymore (it happens...), and really like the leather. Like I said, the one I found is really a dream truck for me. BUT, I am very patient, and keep my trucks a long time. I do tow about 5,000 lb trailer a few times a year - mountains, hot climate, etc., and want my trucks to do what I want.

I WILL, from now on, have my transmissions fluid flushed once a year!
