2500 Springs

Anyone ever thought of putting 2500 springs in the rear? I carry some considerable weight in my bed alot. Will they even fit? Any idea on cost?

Thanks

I put 2500 Hd (1997) 8600 GVWR springs on a 1990 1500 4x4,they fit right on,raised the rear about 2",and they dont ride much worse, iot doesnt sag with the trailer now or wallow around so much. The 1500 springs were 4 leaves, the 2500 's were 6.The new style springs you can probably get the ones off the 8600 2500,they should go right on ,the onlky thing you might need is longer U-bolts.I think the 2500 rides just as good as the 1500 Silverado

Agreed with the above post. There is no reason why they shouldn't interchange. There was a guy on PUTC that got a hood for an HD and said it bolted right up so the springs should work with longer U-bolts.

Thanks guys! Now that I know they will fit, I will be looking for prices. I think it would be a great investment and maybe even a tax write-off.

I put 2500lb over load leaf springs on my K1500 - Z-71. I got them from Dick Cepek. You maintain the factory ride until you put a heavy load in the back. I loaded 3000 lbs of stone and the truck only went down about 3".

Before I bought new springs, I would definitely check junkyard prices. Leaf springs are not something that go bad very often.
