08 Nav Install Problem

i installed a nav in my 08 silverado today with a lockpic. everything seems to work except that when i am in motion the nav cant keep up. it lags really bad. also it thinks it is still in the state where it was removed from the original vehicle. anyone have any advice?

HI, DID YOU INSTALL THE VSS WIRE DOWN TO THE WIREING BOX BY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO THE PROPER GREEN WIRE WITH A WHITE TRACER? ALSO, THE NAV DISC CAN BE CHANGED IN THE RADIOS MENU FOR THE PROPER AREA. THE RADIO WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

 

 

 

no i didnt hook up the vss. what does it do? thanks for the help

Not sure if the new radios are the same inside as the 05-07 Nav radio's, but when I put one in my 04 Avalanche I didn't connect the VSS wire and it was very laggy. You would have to drive about a mile then the screen would update. I'm not sure if it was just waiting days, or go find a long straight road and drive that for 10 miles, but eventually it learned and then worked fine without the VSS wire.

ok, i hooked up the vss wire today, it is still lagging about half a block. is this normal?

might be too easy, but did you make sure not to crimp the antenna wire between the plastic dash panel and the metal dash supports/support tray?

will check and see. if i did pinch it does it have to be replaced??

I have heard no from some techs, but no first hand knowledge. I was mindful when I did mine just because I had read about it on another install thread. sorry no definative answer.
