yesterday i put the parking brake on (not all the way) and then released it right away, but the light didnt turn off. So i looked at the cable along the frame and it was very loose, so i messed with it and got to realease and the light shut off.

My main question is how can i know for sure if the parking brake is off?? I drove the truck today and it to me felt like the brake was on a little but how can i check its off for sure?

Thanks!

Check to see how hot the drums are after driving it.

Jack up the rear (after blocking the front wheels), put the truck in nuetral and spin the tires. Turn off all external noise (radio, neighbors, wife) and listen for brake drag.
