im pretty sure there is 3 bolts..

one inside the fender.. i know there is on HD's and Escalades at least.

look inside the plastic fender liner. take out one of the 7mm screws holding in. so you can get a hand / light in there.

If the same as the new Avalanche here is the quite extensive way to remove your headlamps

Get some painters tape if you do not want to remove fascia lots of people have been doing it without removing the fascia

here is a step by step

http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcn...ic,66071.0.html

here are GMs instructions

Remove two forward wheel house bolts

Open Hood

Remove two upper fascia bolts across top of grille

Remove the lower rear fascia bolt from the support bracket

Loosen the two fender to fascia bolts from behind wheel well liner

Pull the outboard end of the front fascia straight out until it disengages the fender bracket, pull forward and

downward enough to remove the headlight

Remove two upper headlamp bolts

Grasp headlamp on the upper inboard side and lower outboard side and pull straigh to release pins from fender

panel

Pull outboard side rotating to release headlamp from radiator support bracket

Disconnect electrical connections

Recently I replaced the bulbs in the headlights on my Mazda (one finally burned out). There is this retaining spring holding the bulb in place and they do not tell you how to remove it. Suffice to say that I was lucky that I saw where the SOB landed as it flew out of there when I released it. Not the most user friendly design either. :happysad:

You know why E-Rings (see pic) are nicknamed "Jesus Clips", don't you? :dunno:

My '85 Mercedes 300SD (turbo diesel) has the most complicated throttle linkage you have ever seen on any car or truck. They use many short sections of rods joined with ball joints. One section joint held together with a single E clip, and when you lose that, the whole linkage falls off and you cannot drive the car. And yes, I lost the SOB - it actually fell out on its own. Probably someone did not install it correctly.

I read posts of taking 45 minutes to remove headlight, just changed right low beam 2008 Silverado in less than 10 minutes. Removed 4 screws top of air filter, folded top of filter cover back out of way, removed filter, lift up on filter box wiggle out of 2 rubber grommets and remove, underneath looks like a battery tray, plenty of room to access bulbs, twist bulb out of back of headlight, there is enough slack in wire to move bulb to bottom of tray and you can get both hands in to spread retaining clips, replace bulb and reverse procedure, your done !

last time i checked a silverado and a suburban arent the same vehicle TCINWV..........it is quite the pain in the ass to change them out in a suburban/tahoe/avalanche, i miss the classic body style silverado headlights... if it took you more than thirty seconds you shouldnt be allowed to have a license
