I am in the market for a new TV. I currently have a 32" old style Sony (the big back) that is about 5 yrs old. I want something to hang on the wall and I am thinking about a 46 inch. Any recommendations? I dont have to have every gadget just something halfway decent and better than what I have. The below link is what I am thinking of getting

Also here is a pic of my current setup. I am thinking of putting the new one on the wall behind it.

There's nothing wrong with that unit. It is not the top of the line model but it's plenty nice. Frys.com has it for $1299. Price Match, Baby!!!

EDIT: Although, I'd suggest a 56-65 inch DLP projection TV instead. I have a 40" flat panel Samsung and a 5 year old 65" Mistu and while the Samsung is friggin' sweet, I prefer the larger screen. It's 1080i and looks absolutely great. Not to mention you can get a 65" for under $1500 too and they are only about 12 inches deep now. It would also fill up your wall a lot better.

We just bought my parents a sharp 46" LCD 1080p Television and I think it was selling for $1399.99 at sears and we got a killer deal on black friday.. Believe it or not.... Most sales were terrible that day!

+1 to what Daddy said. My beef with hanging the tv on the wall in your type of situation there is that you still have to have something underneath it to house your dvd, cable, and other various box items. Bigger is better with TVs if clarity is the same.

That is a nice Sony. I am a fan of Samsung also.

Some things to consider:

1. 120Hz refresh rates are a feature of some of your better TVs and

2. LED backlighting (instead of flourescent) has come out recently and gives much better contrast and black levels.

I take it your price range is in the $1000-$1500 range? How often do you replace TV's?

I'd think a moderator would know better than to multi-post new topics!

You would have thought that a moderator would have either deleted or had someone like FRANK S delete it by now! :D
