07 Sierra Vs 09 Sierra

The big change in 09 is the availability of the 6 speed transmission. I have been waiting for the 6 speed. And ill still be waiting to see what this year brings for GM and when they are going to offer some good rebates and possible employee pricing. Also you can now get the 6.2L engine in a crew cab SLT / LTZ not just the denali. Although this configuration is EXTREMELY rare, you almost have to order the 6.2L / SLT / LTZ.

Thats about it for major changes. A few small addidions are different colors, Bluetooth, and wheel option.

You have already passed on some of the best deals there were.

Can anyone off the top of their head name what differences there are between the 07 GMT-900 and the 09-GMT-900? If any?

Thanks,

Hi Alaska & Happy New Year!

On 08's yes. I'm thinking after tax season there will be some good deals on 09's or else i will just wait until 09 clearance at the end of the year. IMO GM still has to offer there best deal on 09's. We will see how long the bail out money lasts...

Yes i'm one of those 6 speed transmission people. But hell I can wait, if im going to buy a 38K MSRP truck i will wait and get what i want  Hell, I will probably have to drive 200+ miles so i can get to some dealers with a decent selection.

I'm also looking to get the 6 speed transmission. This should be a pretty good improvement i'm hoping.

I was doing some research today and was majorly disappointed to find out GM is not putting the 6.2L into the extended cabs. It is only available in a crew cab. Not only that, the 6.2L with 6 speed only comes with a 3.42 rear axle. Not a big deal I guess but just a little frustrating considering you can get a 3.73 with the 6.0L & 6 speed combo.

The 3.73 and the 6 speed must be able to smoke some major rubber considering the first gear in the 6 speed with the 3.42 is shorter than the 4 speed with a 4.10. Great prices kicking around right now though, I scored about 16K off MSRP on my 09.

What also sucks is to add the 6.2 you MUST have the SLT / LTZ option. By the time you have that its about the same price as the Denali. I prefer cloth over leather, but if someone had a SLT 6.2 in stock with a decent rebate and employee pricing, there would be plenty of pics of it on this forum! I just cant get myself to like the fake wood on the denali interior. I also perfer a 2WD/ 4HI / 4LO / Auto transfer case than the AWD Denali. But If there is a 08 Denali with a screaming price then i would consider it...

Is it possible to get an 09 1500 Ext Cab Z71 4X4 with the 6.0 and 6-Speed? It would not allow me to select the Z71 option on GMC.com with the 6.0L and I could find no reference to the 6-Speed for the 6.0. I thought all 6.0s and 6.2s in the 1500s would be comming wtih the 6-Speed and that only the 5.3 was on hold for the 6-Speed?

Have they tried the 6 speed out in anything yet? I hate to get the first year of anything. I like to see it out for a year first, give them time to find any bugs.

The 6 speed has been in the Denali since 07, Escalades and Suv's for a couple of years.

Why have they not yet added the 6-Speed to the Extended Cab models?

Initially, they were planning to from what I read, but just a guess here, there are too many 4-speed transmissions left over since vehicles sales tanked last year and want to get rid of a big chunk of them before shifting to the 6-speeds in the ext cabs.
