Engine Compartment

I usually stand back a bit but once in a while I use the pressure washers at the local car wash. You just have to be careful and don't spray very close to anything including the alternator.

Why chance it? Just spray it down with some Simple Green and hose it off with light pressure and it will be clean enough to eat off of.

Ouch, but good burn  .

Honestly, I would never take anything more powerful then a water hose without a nozzle to the engine compartment. I soap up the engine and walls with a soapy brush, then gently wash the soap away.

Bucket of soapy(Dawn dish detergent) water and a rag. Wash away and use a large paint brush for the tight areas. Simple Green works well on any lightly caked on stuff. Rinse with hose. Blow dry with leaf blower or compressed air. I've done this many times on several trucks over the past 25 years and have had no issues. Leaves the engine compartment looking like new.

I have a 2.5 gallon pressure can I fill as follows:

1/2 gal Simple Green

1/2 gal Greased lightning

1/2 cup Dawn

Fill remainder with water.

I have used this since I owned a detailing shop in college (3 years detailing just about everything you can imagine) with no problems as a general purpose cleaner.

-wheels

-engine

-underbody/ brake/wheelwell area

-floormat shampoo
