Question On Mounting My Cb Antenna...

I'm going to mount my antenna on the left side of my toolbox. How do i tell if I need to run a ground wire off of my toolbox? I've read that sometimes you need one and sometimes you don't.

It's always a good idea to ground the antenna to get optimal reception/transmission power. I have my K40 antenna grounded to the frame.

Gotcha. how exactly would i go about doing this? Hook one end to the mount on the other somewhere on the frame?

Where did you mount your CB at and what do you have? I have a 2000 silverado with the center console and cannot find a good place to mount. I wanted to mount it overhead to the console above the mirror but its to big. I have a Cobra 29 WX ST. I also went with a mag mount antenna. I have a topper and that was really the only option. Getting into the can is also a pain.

Well i probably have a special case since i have the Cobra 19 DX IV Compact CB. It's smaller than most CB's so I was able to fit it in the space below the CD player. I didn't really need this area so i decided to put it there and it fit well. I really only bought it for the PA function as I have a 100 watt powerhorn mounted under my toolbox. It's great! I just finally got an antenna for it and i'm gonna try this small CB out. My buddy has the same one and he said it is suprisingly strong. So we will see. Also, I ran the wires from the CB to my PA horn under the carpet and out of the firewall on the passenger side floor. There was nothing running out of it so i just punched it out and ran it through. Piece of cake. Here are some pics of my setup...

P.S. I know my truck is dirty. It is my project this week to clean the inside out thoroughly.
