Problem After Installing Ignition Switch On A 04 Tahoe

Well i initially had a problem with the CEL DTC P740 which caused the transmission to be stuck in second gear. After research I found out a few people had the same problem which there was TSB for a ignition switch problem on my 04 Tahoe. I replaced it myself but now everytime I try to crank the car it would either not crank at all or it will crank but immediately cutoff as soon as I let go of the key. I took the ignition switch off again and manually crank it by hand by moving the gear on the switch. When I do it manually it cranks up fine. Only when I put everything back together the problem occurs again. I was wondering is there a certain way the key or the gear on the switch has to set to when installing a ignition switch? When installing the switch I set the key to lock and the switch to where the beginning is where there is large gap between the teeth of the gear. BTW the ignition switch did take care of the DTC and driveability problem. Thanks!

OK, 9 times out of 10 the ignition switch will fix this issue. Did you have a aftermarket alarm installed on you vec because this will produce the same issues. As far as the gears on the ignition switch the best way to line that up correctly is to match up the teeth on the new ignition switch the same as the old ignition switch teeth. also see if the vec secruity light is on when the vec is starting and stalling.
