Nav In 03

I'm brand new here, been at CTW for a few years but no one knows anything there now.....Alright so I helped a friend put a roofrack on his 07 vmax and he gave me his oem nav radio out of his previous escalade. Put it in and took a scanner and removed theft lock and stuff, everything works fine except volume. From reading up on this, the amp is more then likely not getting a signal, can I put a switch on a control wire or does the new radio need the lux amp out of a cadillac for it to work since the new radio probably doesn't take the actual wire from the amp. Thanks.

Some of these guys have done similar swaps...they may be able to help.

Hi what type of GM Truck are you trying to put this in....if it is anything but an Escalade or a Denali....its not going to work with and the reason for that is....the Escalade and the Denali's have the Y91 Luxury Option for Sound as where the Silverado/Sierra/Tahoe/Sub's have a Different Bose Amplifier.....this is what would be causing your problem.

To make this work you would need to buy an Amplifier out of an Escalade/Denali and there is a few wiring pins you must switch to make it work....

The easiest option if you are not mechanically inclined would be to just sell the Escalade Radio, and then buy what is called a Non-Lux Unit from a Tahoe/Sub.

If you have any more questions don't hesitate to post.

Yeah, I found out I need a lux amp and have been looking at some one ebay. I'm pretty good with electrical stuff as well as regular mechanics, do you know which prongs need to be switched around?

I'm not exactly for sure what needs to be swapped, however I believe a member by the name of Linda a few years back had a write-up on this...you may want to search the Audio/Electronics Discussion here on the board.
