Hypertech Power Programmer III ?

Does anyone have any information on these. I have a stock 97 1500 Silverado with the 5.7 and I'm wondering if it's worth the $339.00. Other than what I've read from Hypertech I don't know anything else. Does this improve MPG?

I don't know if they are worth full retail, see if you can find one used.  I got mine for $200 and it works just like new.  I do have to say though the things you can do with it are great!  Change rev limiter, shift points, tire height, gear ratio, etc.  I didn't notice any improvement in gas mileage.

Quick question, somebody told me that they they're only good for programing one car and that you can't use it on a second one because the VIN# don't match. is this true?? Cause a friend and myself would like to go in halfer on one for our 2002 tahoes??

I think they are made so that it will not work on a second vehicle unless the first vehicle it was attached to has been programmed back to factory stock settings.

Gm dealership could program for the 285's so on a whim i went there and the guy was like $279 (plus tax) i was like woah (almost bought a few)
