New Muffler

Hey guys,

I just received my new Corsa DB Red muffler today and I am going to have it put on tomorrow. I will get some video up soon. I know that one member has a Corsa DB Black on his truck on the site and I am taking a stab at the Red series for hopefully a little quieter sound.

Got the Corsa put on today and I must say that at idle, it is almost as quiet as the stock system. It gets really loud from 1500 to 2000 rpm, and I cant tell if its drone or just loud. When you get on it, you cant hear much difference inside the cab, and its not really loud at all when I pass walls or buildings. It does have a great sound, but at 1700 rpm's, it almost hurts my ears. I dont think the wife will be very happy. I cant tell much difference when in 4 cyl mode, just a little choppy sounding. So I am wondering now about fixes for the dreaded drone!

I have read articles saying that shortening the exhaust may move the drone in the rpm range? anyone tried it?

If not, I will look for a resonator or maybe another muffler to install in front of the Corsa.

I would think shortening the exhaust would make the drone worse since the sound of the exhaust would be bouncing off the ground under the truck.

 

I think the only way to get rid of the drone would be to move the muffler farther towards the rear of the truck.
