Nnbs 07+ - Fuel Injection Service & Fuel Filter

Hey,

 

I'm wondering how I should approach a fuel service on my truck. Should I get a fuel injection service or should I change the fuel filter first or should I run a fuel cleaner first? I need a bit of guidance of what order to take or what not to do to get the best possible results. Also is the fuel filter on the 07+ NNBS located under the driver side area of the truck?

I believe that the fuel filter is located in the tank and is not servicable. I usually run a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner every 5k kms or so and I have had a Motovac fuel injector cleaning done on my previous Jeep with pretty good results as it cured a bit of a rough idle and felt a little more powerful (as tested by my butt dino) after but it was a little pricey. I am not sure what the maintenace schedule calls for but are you having some idle/performance issues? Hope this helps.

I'm not really having any issues. I've just seen my MPG drop steadily, so I want to make sure it doesn't get worse and also just put some upkeep on the fuel system. I don't know if i should trust a regualr shop to do it, seems like they wouldn't do a true fuel system cleaning.

Any dealer mechanics here that know gm's process for a fuel system cleaning. If all it involves is sucking up a bottle of cleaner through a vacum line i would like to hear why gm thinks this should cost over a hundred bucks? Is it worth it because i can do that for 4 bucks with a bottle of sea foam and a beer for about 1.25, if it actually involves more then that i would like to hear because i know with all this cheap gas i need to clean it out but do not want to get ripped off.

Not sure what GM does, but I know when they used the Motovac apparatus on my Jeep, they disabled the fuel pump and hooked the machine directly up to the fuel rail. I believe they did something else as well to make sure that none of the solution entered the tank via the return line but I am not sure what that was.
