Customer Sells To Salesman

So i had some time to burn between work and class today so i swung by my dealer today to test drive the only 6.2 engine they had on the lot, a Yukon Denali, and there is nothing against them because they have treated me great every time, but it seems like every time i go in there i have to teach them about their product and a huge complement to this site because there is so much information on this site just waiting to be found. A couple months back i test drove a sierra to see how the 6 speed ran and i asked about the bluetooth and how it worked and he had no idea, and today i was driving the yukon and asked him if the denali was the one that had the bose centerpoint system and he had no idea what i was talking about. He was very knowledgable about some things but others not so much. What concerns me is that i know that most of their time is spent just sitting there they could spend it educating themselves about their product so that they make sure they can answer every question by their customer, even if i am super educated about what i want  thanks to this site

Yea, I think that's pretty typical to have an ignorant sales person. Not just in car sales either. It's pretty bad with electronics also. There have been rare occasions where a salesman knew what he was talking about, but they are few and far between.

Although i was disappointed in myself because when i was done with the test drive he was taking the tag off and he said "I'm surprised that you didn't get on it more" but it was like rush hour so thats all i needed was to wreck a yukon denali on a test drive.

* And yes i did drive it and MAN it was so goooood I CANT WAIT but and another thing i had to tell the salesman today was that the 6.2 was offered in the crew cabs this year and in the ex cab next year. JEEZ

The guy that sold me my truck had never even sold a diesel before let alone know anything about it... But I did spend a lot of time talking with the Diesel Tech in the service department....

I agree, I used to sell Cars and Trucks myself back about 15 years ago. There is plenty of down time to gather facts and details about the products. Now days it would be really much easier with the net, and all the forums and email update memo's from the facory and such. Most of the guys I worked with didn't know crap about any of the vehichels they were selling.

I was in a GMC dealer the other day and got in an argumant with the sales person about the 6.2 not just being just a Denali option anymore. I had aske to test drive a 6.2L AT pkg truck, they did not have one in stock , and the dumb ars said they didn'd offer it except in the denalli. So I went right over to the literature rack grabed the 09' siera brochure and fliped it opten to the all terain page and showed it to him in right where it was printed in the book and he said there were misprints in those books all the time. That it was not an option.I gave up and left at that point, My dad who lives in a whole different state, had the same thing happen to him when he went to his local GMC dealer asking to see a 6.2L all terrain, his dealer at least called back a day or two later and appolgising to him and told him they had located one at another dealer if he was still enterested .

Its no wonder these morron dealers don't have any in stock. So far we are 2 for 2, even finding one that knows they are available that way. I was never interested on the denali since it was AWD, and I am not into the bling bling with the 20 inch rims an dall that. Now that its availble in a 4wd and not AWD, I think its a great powertrain with regular 4wd and the 6 speed auto.

Same here. I was getting my oil changed at Donovan truck center a couple weeks ago, thats where that happend to me at. Where did you go.

thats where i go, they said they would hook me up because they have sold 4 vehicles in the last 3 years to my family and my dad went to school with the owner. They are really great at not trying to push be to do anything fast because i tell them im not going to be ready till may even though i am probably just annoying them with all the research. Last thing the salesman said to me was to get back with him when i learned something new LOL

I was working with one of the fleet sales people in the back at the comercial lot. Those guys normally know there stuff better then most when it comes to trucks. I was surprised that they did not know the 6.2 was availble in other models this year. 09's have been out for several months now, and they don't seem to have a clue.

Its sad, even if you dont like cars and trucks as some of us on here, you should at least know your product and the latest stuff in our always getting updated new cars and trucks

It bugs me, since that is why I am sure these 6.2L are hard to find. The dealers staff don't seem to care enough to read up on there products to know that new options exist now. So since they are not aware they exist, it is not likely that they will be getting any in for stock. So fokes like you and I can test drive them and maybe buy them.

Well i also asked him if they were getting any stock in soon and he said they will be but its because of the obvious, the plants are shut down still, duh.
