Heated Winshield Wipers And Cruise Correspond?

So I'm driving down the highway. The cruise is set and the windshield is dirty as hell. I'm in love with the idea of heated wiperfluid. I press the button, wait a moment and it showers my windshield with heated glory. Its clean now, no need for any more. I press the button once again to turn it off. Next thing I know the truck I decelerating! Wtf? The cruise is off? Huh, must have pressed the button accidentally.

Just for kicks I turn it back on. Then I turn the heated wipers on, then off. This time I watch the lil indicator light on the cluster turn off!

One more time for good measure! Yup! Sure enough!

WHY????????? Am I the only one???? Is this a glitch?

I did search and if my search results are anything like this issue, then I would say I am the only one! lol

I had a similiar experience with an F150 about 15 years ago.

To answer your question directly, my guess is you have a a so-called sneak-circuit which developed as a result of some, potentially, unrelated (to either cruise or washer) electrical fault.

On my old ford, I had a front turn signal bulb burn out, and, during that time, putting on the left blinker for a lane change turned OFF my cruise control. Took me a few days to figure THAT one out. On the inside of the truck, all seemed normal, short of the "cruise with attitude".

Check all of your fuses and electricals... you're looking for a bum fuse, possibly. Check all of your bulbs and lighting. That's where I would start. Again, it is possible that the fault lies in a system that may have NOTHING to do with the washer or cruise system DIRECTLY.

Freakin wierd!

Actually come to think of it, my 00 cavalier used 2 do something similar. When I turned my headlights on the cruise would disengage. I figured out it was the LED tail lights that I put in that triggered it! Wierd...

I wonder if it has something to do with my power seat having a short in it... dealership fixed one connection but not the other. When I sit in the seat it pulls the wires apart and it won't werk. I'm only 200lbs but its enough apparently.

Its gonna help enough that the dealership is gonna be looking at that too when I goes back in for the seat and radio! Bah!

I got this cautionary email the other day about the perils of running your cruise control in the rain. Something about it kicking it if you have a wheel slip or you start hydroplaning. But the email ended with the statement that some manufacturers have started disabling the cruise if the windshield wipers are on. They mention Toyota Sienna in particular FWIW

Sounds like this isn't the case here, but it's something to consider.
