New Remote Entry Fob

So, I purchased my truck new and it only came with one remote entry key fob with remote start. I found a guy who will sell me a new fob and a new key (that will have to be cut) for $60 shipped.

 

First, is this a good price for those two items?

 

Second, if I program the new key fob will I lose the programming for the "old" one that I bought with the truck, or will the truck still recognize both?

If you program both of them at the same time you'll be fine.

assuming everything can be reprogrammed that sounds like a good deal to me. i haven't priced a new key for my Sierra yet, but the VW Jetta i used to own cost $300 to get a new key/fob. what a crock of shit that was.

Mine ('07) came with 2. What about asking the dealer about that.... (?)

That's usually the way used vehicles are, even if it was traded with 2 fobs, the dealer will only give you one. 2nd one is extra.

Oh, not a BAD price for the fob, make sure it is the same code as the one you have.

Fob AND Key for $60. Is the code something that I can get from the person I'm purchasing them from or will I have to wait until I get it to know the code? Don't I just use the DIC and program both FOB's at the same time?

If you have the owner's manual, it tells you how to reprogram a new fob and a new key. I'm at work right now and don't have access to this. But, you really should get an owners manual.

The price is just ok. I bough a brand new remote start fob for $6.09 on ebay plus $4.00 shipping. I bought two brand new in the GM bag blank keys for an 08 for 13.85 each plus 6.99 shipping. My new truck came with 2 keys and 2 fobs. I wanted extras just to have around.
