Corsa Exhaust Systems

Corsa has an exhaust system listed for the SD now. I checked with them a couple months ago and they did not have one at that time.

They have the Sport and Touring, both in single side or dual rear exit configurations.

I have not heard Corsa before. I was wondering just how loud the Sport typically is, and conversely, how tame is the touring. I don’t want my crew cab brick to sound like a race car. I never have understood why people like that, but I digress, that’s a personal preference and I shouldn’t judge others preferences. I just like a nice rumble and no cab resonance in my daily drivers. I’ve had my share of 10 second cars where I’d have to wear ear plugs just to go grab a jug of milk at the store with women and children holding their hands over their ears on the sidewalks…… Actually, the SD’s don’t sound half bad from the factory, but I would mind a bit more of an aggressive tone than stock.

I like pipes out the back, so I’ll go with the dual rear exit. I am curious though, does anyone know if I’d have to drop the spare tire with these dual rear kits? I wasn’t able to find if it will on Corsa’s web sight.

Any insight on these Corsa systems would be appreciated. I usually do my own exhaust work, but I can't bend stainless, and want to go with SS this time.

For a nice rumble go with the Touring. Both systems are straight through so the performance is the same. Your passengers will appreciate it especially when towing.

I do not belong to the if you don't loose your hearing in less than three weeks, then its not loud enough crowd.

Corsa makes great exhausts and even the sport won't drone too badly. I would go sport or just stick with the stock exhaust as the cost/sound difference isn't enough to justify for the Touring IMO.

I have Corsa on my Vette and LOVE it. I want Corsa on my Yukon, but the Denali exhaust already sounds pretty nasty stock, so I'm not inclined to make it even more aggressive.

Ya I agree.... The SD exhaust does have a good tone to it. Much better than the 05 I had. The 05 was a silent as death, so I HAD to do something to it. I’m not looking to change my 08’s exhaust to make it louder. I suppose I'm just old school. Any vehicle with a V8 in it needs two pipes out the back to look right to me. I know, I know....$1200 bucks for reasons of vanity is ridiculous.

Everyone has their reasons for wanting modded exhaust or other accessories. I prefer the stock exhaust because it's subtle looking and has a nice tone at low rpm, but is quiet on the highway. I used to prefer dual exhausts on trucks, but no longer prefer them as much. Kind of weird how tastes change over time.

I can't believe I didn't see that one..... The search function has outsmarted me again.

I think we have simular tastes. I don't care for the Corsa tips either. I put the twin intercoolded borla tips on my last truck and routed the exhaust wider than the Corsa kit too.

So did you have to drop your spare tire?

Apparently, different SD's had different ways that the exhaust pipe came out. I thought the one that mine originally came with looked like crap.

That was one of several reasons that I wanted to upgrade the exhaust on mine. I hated the way that big ol' pipe just "stuck out there."

Like you said, though, everyone has their reasons...

Yea, the search function sucks. It didn't turn up for me either--I had to go in to my post history. I'm pretty sure that I had to drop the spare down a few inches, but I can't remember. It's an easy process, though, and good practice if you ever have to do it to change a flat. Here's a pic with the Borla tips I put on:

LOL.... I can't help but think we're acting like chics. But honey, it just looks better!! The stock exhaust makes my ass look fat....

I like the Borla tip better. I think I'm going to order up one of these kits and tell the boss it's for "gass mileage". I just wont tell her how much it costs.... shhhhh

In regards to the spare, I was just wondering if the pipes allowed you to keep the spare in the hanger. I put a Gibson kit on a Dodge I had years ago and I had to keep the damn thing in the bed. I'll never do that again.

Well, the truck should last a lot longer than the wife's clothes, shoes, and make-up . . .

Haha. Yes, the spare stays where it is. Everything is good; the pipes bend around the tire.

Thanks Will! I'm convinced. I'm going to install one of these kits. I just need to make up my mind and go with the sport or touring. The way you describe the sport in your write up, I may just go with that one instead of the touring. Have you noticed it getting any louder or changing tone at all? Any regrets going with the sport over the touring?

I dunno about that Michael..... My girlfriend has some pretty old shoes in the closet and I buy a different rig every three years.... The truck may last longer than her though, if I keep diverting funds from what she wants to what I want…

I think you'll be happy with the Sport Mike. It's not obnoxious in the least, and has just enough of a growl under heavy throttle. I've never heard the Touring, but the Sport is so good that I can't imagine the touring being any better. It seems to sound the same today as it did when I installed it.
