You guys have been great helping me to understand and narrow down my choices!

 

Here's the sticker on the truck I'm serious about. If anyone has comments on my selection or things I might have missed, I'd really appreciate them!

 

This Sierra would replace my 2000 Silverado LS (ext cab, 5.3, Z71) as a daily driver. I'm not building additions these days, so I'm willing to 'go a little bit fancy' but prefer to avoid 'gadgets'.

 

Mostly I'll be hauling kayaks, canoes and bikes for the family. I tow a 24' boat, locally, and plan to take it up to Maine for summer vacations. I use logging roads to access fishing spots, but that's my only 'off-road' use.

I normally buy low-mileage used vehicles, but the crazy market is forcing me to do my patriotic duty. 'Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of a bargain!' I am 'shopping for my country!'

 

I'm hoping the dealers will take two vehicles in trade, so I can 'down-size my home fleet. The extra dollars will make the new truck more affordable, but I'm doing it mainly for convenience. I'd love it if they'd take some of the stuff I'm cleaning out of the attic, as well!

 

Buckfever, I like your Silverado. That 'cow-catcher' hides that crazy painted fender. Although, in grey, it doesn't look bad. The white Silvy's I saw looked very odd with that bulbous fender piece. I think the darker colors look better.

Called this morning and discovered the sticker I posted is for an extended cab. I should have seen that, but the listing I pulled it from SAID "crew cab" and the photos were of a crew cab.

 

For posting purposes, it's fine, since the sticker shows all the 'gear' I want. It's just frustrating to call the dealer and find that they've cross-matched their databases -- 'What you see, is not, necessarily --- what you get!'

 

So now, I look elsewhere for the same specifications in a crew cab model...urghh!!

 

Bubba, you're right, it's not a good time for trades, but the convenience means more to me, at the moment.
