Hood Deflector Road Noise On '08 Silverado

Recommended Posts

I bought a new '08 Silverado (1500, 2WD extended cab) a couple weeks ago; finally had to upgrade from my 1990 stepside with 186k miles:) I installed a new AVS Bugflector II on it, which looks fantastic, but I'm getting a lot of road noise that sounds almost like rain hitting the upper windshield when I hit 60+mph. I've checked the bolts (3 on this model) and tape where it's attached to the hood, and everything is secure. Any suggestions on remedying this? I had the same type on my last truck and loved it, but if I can't fix this I'll have to keep shopping.

Common problem, easy fix!!!

Get some 3M double sided weatherstrip tape and put it under the pass side windshield trim from the bottom to the top. If you open your pass door, you can gain easy access to the screws that hold it down, loosen those and it will be easier to get the tape under there.

Problem solved!

Sounds good... I will look into this...

Not quite sure what you mean by "windshield trim"? sorry I know its a dumb question, but I want to make sure so I do this mod correct.

Thanks

Pretty self-explanatory once you look. Go take a peek and you'll figure it out. :(

I used the tape method as described above. Then I had a wind whistle at interstate speeds. Removed the tape, removed the bug guard and truck is once again quiet.

Anyone want to buy a bug guard?

Install at own risk !

My 04 did that and it drove me crazy. One day I noticed the wiper blade on the passenger side does not follow the windshield contour when they are parked. The wiper blade will actually slap the window once you get to cruising speed. When I put Rain-X wipers on it, the problem disappeared.
