2500hd Front Brakes

Hi All,

This is my first post here.

I searched but too much info to filter.

My question: What's the best front brake set up these days for my daily driven 2001 2500HD 4X4 CrewCab SWB? I do tow bout once a month.

I'm just running 285s.

I want to replace the rotors and pads. The calipers seem fine.

The last time I did a brake job on a truck was back in the 80s. Back then ACDelco rotors were garbage and the pad materials have changed alot.

Thanks in advance,

Mune

My 99 2500 GMT800 didn't need front brake pads until near 200,000 miles. Granted I didn't tow after the first year. But, my experience suggests that the stock factory pads are very good.

On my 2000 I went with Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads.{In the green box} Very good stopping and virtually no dust. But not cheap.

Diesel World had a writeup on a SSBC upgrade kit. I know you mentioned your rotors are fine, but the kit comes with better 6 piston calipers.
