5.7l Engine Swap

It is possible for a 01' Silverado 2wd to swap its vortec 5.3L to a vortec 6.2L (Sierra Denali)?

If it is possible do all the electrical systems and alerts like "check engine" "change oil" etc... will work properly?

What other engine options could work?

Its more than just possible. That engine swap should be able to be performed relatively easily... comparatively speaking. I can't say for sure exactly how easy it would be, I am no expert. But I do know that the wiring harness could be spliced in almost seamlessly, allowing for 100% full factory function. There are a few good companies out there that will do this for you for about $400-$700 depending on the difficulty, and assuming the two donor harnesses are in good condition. You would probably need to buy a new engine computer as well but its also possible that you would just need to reprogram it. The engine mounts should, as far as I know, swap right out as well. The difficult part could be adapting the fuel system to the new engine. You could very well need to buy new fuel line assemblies or modify the one you have. I have no idea how similiar or different the fuel setup is for the two engines. I'll tell you what though, check out www.hotrodlane.cc These guys know pretty much everything you would ever need to know about any chevrolet engine swap. Plus they do all the splicing and wiring as I mentioned before. They put an 5.3L Vortec engine in a '71 chevy pickup, with every computer function operational, and even had the OBD2 connector right there under the dash. Did I mention it was emissions legal? Pretty impressive, if you ask me!

But anyway, like I said, I don't know exactly what it would take to do the swap, because I'm honestly not very familiar with most off the LS type engines but the wiring should be compatible already. You would just have to mate the 6.2 harness to the other half of the harness that plugs into your truck. Oh yeah and you may also need to have your instrument cluster reprogrammed for the new engine, although honestly if I was going to take on that big of a swap myself, I'd go buy a brand new Escalade cluster on ebay for $400-$500.

Good luck!
