Headlight Comparison

I am wanting to upgrade both low and high beams in my truck and I usually get piaa or silverstars but I think im wanting purple because my truck is purpleish. And I dont have the money to do HID which I would like to. I think I narrowed it down to luminics ultra violet halogen http://www.luminicsusa.com/bulbcolor.asp?Cat=Ultra%20Violet or putco pure ignition puple http://www.eautoworks.com/product-Putco-331548.htm I havent used one of these brands and I was just wondering if anyone has used either of these? are they good? are they bright? are they dim? do they look like they are suppose to? Why not do HID you can pick a pair up off of ebay for like 53.00!!!! I just did. Yes they probably are some cheap chinese ones, but i have had a pair in my last vehicle for 2 years and a set in my silverado for over a year now and i just purchased another set for my van that i am getting ready to put in this weekend. I have had the other HID look a like bulbs before and ended up burning up more light harness than anything. The bulbs also look good but you really don't get more light out of them. Not to rant or or tell you what to do but i really think you will be happier with HID. If you did HID you wouldn't only have to do the low's they are plenty bright.

Just my 2cents.

If you do the HIDs off ebay, it would almost the same price if you even replace one of those bulbs in a year. Check my sig for the specific information (and a nod to daddy as well). I opted for the relay harness as well but you dont have to go that route. My harness was $30.00 (cheap insurance IMO). Those PIAA and Silverstars will run out alot quicker than the HIDs ever will

Not that most people care, but all the headlight options you mentioned besides the piaa and silverstars are illegal and actually produce less usable light than stock.

any bulb whether HID or not has the most usable light anywhere from the 3000K to 6000K. OEMs use 5000K for their high end vehicles

yeah my moms nissan maxima had HIDS from factory, i think think were 8000k or 10000k they were purple. do these kits plug in the same socket as the stock bulbs do, then mount the ballest then the new harness from the ballest will of course have the HID and go into the light? and do you think right that the 12000k be bright?

Yes HID is illegal in aftermarket but there is no way that it produces less light than stock or the other collored bulbs. Every HID i have put in is a lot brighter than the original. I prefer the Hid just for the clarity of light that it produces.

Nope, OEM Nissan equipment was 5200K on the Maxima. It appears that Nissan uses the same OEM supplier for their HID systems as GM does for the Cadillac/GMC lineup.

I bought a legit HID kit from a fellow member here and I swear every truck I have from now on is getting an HID kit. I would save up. They are worth it, the lighting is uncomparable to any aftermarket bulb, beleive me, Ive tried em.

Get the HID. I have always been a PIAA fan but now that I have tried HID's will never go back. Probably a 10000k will give the color you are looking for.

Yeah I have hids in both low and high you will be fine and will be able to see the world

i ordered a set for low and another for high both of them digital ballests and the should be here wednesday at the latest if he ships them monday. ill have to post pics thanks for your help

$59.99 Sounds wicked cheap. The kit I bought retails for over $400 new. Ive heard that those HID kits that are just the bulbs and ballasts can sometimes reflect off of the stock lense causing temp issues and making the light not as bright as it should be. keep in mind that the HIDs will not ignite as fast as a regular bulb, so dont use your HID highs to flash someone. You will end up breaking the bulb quicker.
