Fog Lights

A local shop here has fog lights that are supposed to fit in the holes just like the factory ones, except they are remote control, no drilling through the firewall or mounting the switch! They are pretty pricey though at $140! I have seen some that are similar but do not fit EXACTLY in the holes, but are remote operated, they are $39! Has anyone bought the ones that fit in the factory holes but operate by remote????

Sounds like PIAA's.  They have a wireless remote system, but I'm sure Catz and Blazer have simething similar by now.  But the PIAA remote itself is like $90.  $140 for a set of lights is cheap!

Our hole in the airdam is 7.5" w x 3" tall at least by my measurements in the dark the other night.  I'm tired of the cheap mounting GM did so that every time I hit a bump, they vibrate.  :cool:

the remote driving lights I got for my bumper cover are from a ford explorer   they work great  didn't have to run wires through the awful mess gm calls a firewall.

Thanks Guys, looks like the remote is the way I will go! Now I will look around to see if I can pick up some somewhere for a reasonable price! :cool:  :thumbs:

I'm a fan of PIAA's (in case anyone didn't notice already), and here are the ones I found that will fit into our stock housing.  Some significant modification may need to be done to mount them properly (so they don't vibrate/bounce everytime you hit a bump).

What it also boils down to is what beam pattern you want.  I prefer a long distance but wider cross coverage style light which would be a "driving" light vs. a "pencil" beam which will be slightly longer in distance than a "driving" light but have little cross section to them.

Here is what I liked;

PIAA 2100x

PIAA P-3000 Tri-Beam

PIAA 1500xt

Do you already have factory lights installed?  If so, I'd just use your stock wiring and simply replace the lights themselves.

I've been wanting to replace the POS OEM fog lights for a while.  Another option instead of the PIAAs are these made by Pilot: http://www.pilotautomotive.com/pilot2bd.htm   They are part of their OEM replacement line.  Only problem is you can't order the from Pilot, and I've never seen this model on any aftermarket website.  Could probably be easily ordered by anyone who carries Pilot products.  I have a set of backup lights made by Pilot that I have not yet installed.  Seem to be well made.
