Belt Noise

I've got what sounds like a belt noise on my 02 4.3. It sounded like the idler pulley, so I sprayed the back of the pulley with wd-40 and the sound went away for about two mins and came back. I'm thinkin the bearings shot but now after think about it, I'm wondering if I ended up getting wd-40 on the belt???? which mage the noise go away.

The truck would do this first thing in the morning, and would stop, but after going through a car wash the also washes the bottom of cars, the noise happens all the time. What do you think?

VERY common problem. New idler and tensioner pulleys along with a new belt should make it good as new.

Zembonez is right, Dont just replace one, do em all. They are all cheap parts, you'll end up replacing one and it will be something different so might as well go with all three.

temporay solution that has worked in the past for my old cars. Take a piece of old soap (because you can't use it when you're done) and VERY CAREFULLY!!!! hold it to the underside of the belts when the engine is running until the squeek goes away. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! WATCH YOUR FINGERS!!!! I would also suggest replacing the belts though. This is just temporary. However it did the trick for 30,000 miles on my last car, until it really was time to replace the belts.
