Illumination Wire Question

Folks,

 

I'm about ready to install my Pioneer head unit in my 2003 Silverado, but would like to get a couple answers before I do this.

 

First - the illumination wire. I had to get a GMOS factory adapter harness because my truck has the Bose speaker system. Is it necessary to run the illumation wire directly to my light switch? Or will the factory adapter take care of that, since it has the wires ready? (considering the fact it illuminated the factory radio)

 

If it IS necessary, which wire do I splice in the light switch? I'd like to know in advance before splicing the wrong wires or fumbling around trying to figure out which one it is. I'm sure somebody out there has had to deal with this and would be kind enough to share.

If you get the right harness, the illumination wire should be in the harness.

That's exactly what I thought. The harness already has an illumination wire to splice with the one coming out of the head unit's harness.
